Grand Reality : VR Piano App - Android
- Oculus QuestFREE
Browse piano pieces by famous composers, and watch them play in front of your eyes! Now with hand tracking and custom MIDI files.
To get the most from Grand Reality you'll need either a Bluetooth or USB piano/keyboard. You can also calibrate an acoustic piano but you'll not be able to see key-presses in VR. It's not currently possible to play notes on the piano without a connected piano, all you'll be able to do is watch pieces playing on the piano or other people playing in multiplayer mode. Description Imagine sitting down to a beautiful, full-size, perfectly-tuned grand piano. Grand Reality gives you the experience of owning a grand piano, without spending $50,000. Built for both the beginner pianist and the virtuoso, you can watch pieces being played on the piano in front of you. Slow it down, repeat it, or just sit back and enjoy the music. Requires hand-tracking to be enabled on your Quest. Features Custom MIDI - you can drop your .mid files in a folder on your Quest and have them play in Grand Reality Rich-sounding piano, sampled from a real grand piano Fully-animated piano with moving hammers, dampers, pedals and keys Bluetooth/USB connectivity - allows you to see key-presses in VR Hand-tracking Bluetooth/USB Piano Connectivity You have two options to connect your piano; via Bluetooth, or with a USB connection. Connecting your real piano to Grand Reality unlocks the ability to see key presses in VR and use some of the practice modes. Bluetooth If you own a Bluetooth midi piano, or a midi-to-Bluetooth adapter (see below for Amazon links), then you'll be able to use it in Grand Reality! During calibration, in the Bluetooth screen, toggle your piano to 'connected'. Amazon US: https://amzn.to/36e6suY Amazon UK: https://amzn.to/31VSw6B If you have any problems seeing key-presses then try pairing with your Bluetooth piano in the Quest settings screen and the unpairing again by clicking 'forget'. For some reason, it seems to work better when the piano is not directly paired but has been in the past. If you're having trouble with this, please join my Discord chat server (https://discord.gg/r7kRJfu) and I will help you. Connect directly to your headset with a USB cable It is also possible to connect your USB piano to Grand Reality by plugging it into a your headset's USB Type-C port. You'll likely need a USB Type-C to USB 3.1 Gen1 Female Adapter such as this one: Amazon US: https://amzn.to/3g4EE0J Amazon UK: https://amzn.to/2LKK5nm Real-life Piano Calibration Whether you have an electronic or an acoustic piano, follow the calibration process in-game to align it correctly. After automatic calibration, you can adjust your seated position if needed. Custom MIDI Files https://i.imgur.com/JdqYDJ4.png In SideQuest, drop your .mid files in 'sdcard/Android/data/com.Earthlings.GrandReality/files/MIDI'. Make sure that you have opened the app at least once before doing this, and your files should appear when you click on the 'My Files' tab in-game.
